Come on! Admit it, you spend endless hours in front of a computer, really love what you do and are a geek but once in a while you need to escape from all that work and relax a little. Here's my take on the 8 funniest websites I use to get my daily fix.

Warning: start reading late in the afternoon or you could lose your whole day.

1. Historical Tweets

By now you may know how to deal with Twitter to avoid turning your day into a miserable unproductive chain of tweets. All of us are connected, all of us share some useful knowledge and that's it. The world's a better place since Twitter was born on 2006 and... what?... Twitter before that?

That's the idea behind Historical Tweets, what if Twitter had existed a really long time ago? Smart, isn't it? They say it best: "history’s most amazing men and women can be fully understood, a mere 140 characters at a time."

You'll find what I suppose was Lincoln's last tweet, young Hitler thoughts and even a message to a well connected God in Adam's reply.

2. xkcd

Don't you love simplicity? And what could be more simple than black and white drawings of guys made of sticks? That's all you'll find at xkcd, but wait, these guys are much more than that. xkcd is a webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language. Yes, romance and math in the same sentence.

Laptop Hell

If you are passionate about programming, philosophy and smart humor (so smart that most humans won't get it) you need to pay a daily visit to xkcd. From laptop hell to flying thanks to Python these stick fellas won't let you click away.

3. Cracked

Cracked is "American’s only humor & video site since 1958". Hey, that's more than half a century, these guys must be really good.

If you are into lists of things nobody should care about you'll get them here. Examples: the 5 most half-assed monsters in movie history and 5 things Hollywood thinks computers can do. Enough? Rest my case.

The Earth is under attack by a race of vastly advanced aliens, so Jeff Goldblum creates a virus from his PowerBook that disables the entire apparently Macintosh-compatible fleet of ships.

But it's not all about the lists, it's the prose as well baby, really inspiring. And yeah, I always wondered why those creepy bastards used Macs too.

4. Humorix

Mega corporations, science, operating systems, lots of lawyers and even good 'ol Satan appear on Humorix, a collection of finely crafted articles for the free software loving geeks who ponder about issues like: if aliens could create universes that run Linux, why didn't they do it, and, more to the point, why can't we SSH into them?

And sure, you'll have plenty of disturbing news such as Microsoft buying Slashdot too.

5. I can has cheezburguer

Pictures of cats who can't spell right, do I have to say more? That's what I can has cheezburguer is about. Lolcats have invaded the Net and they even have written their own Bible so next time you look at your little kitty think carefully what may be her next move.

6. Bash, the Quote Database

Stupid things are being said all the time on IRC channels and Bash got the best of them archived for you. What? You don't know what IRC is my dear IM-Twitter-era-buddy? You'll want to know for sure after reading quotes like: hm. I've lost a machine.. literally lost. it responds to ping, it works completely, I just can't figure out where in my apartment it is.

7. The Onion

The Onion is America's finest news source, truly. Forget about CNN, forget about the Washington Post, if you want to read professional journalists writing the news as they should be written you can't ask for less.

8. The Scam Baiter

Do you get letters from guys with funny names in Nigeria wanting to split millions of dollars with you? Somebody should give those smart asses a lesson, right? Well, wait no more, the guys in the Scam Baiter are here just for that.

These heroes of the networked world will take the time to set the bait, give the scammers hell and brag about it for your sadistic pleasure.

Wanna see how it works? All right, if you have lots of time to throw away and need a really good long lasting laugh to forget there are people still using Internet Explorer 6 go read the Anus laptops case, you won't regret it, or maybe yes but anyway, I included the damn warning, ok?

Now, go get some work done!

Still here? Don't you have to focus on getting some dough to get on with your life? Or perhaps you'd like to share some more fun with all of us? Add your favorite funny websites to the list.
